Gaby Beston Edwards is a Venezuelan-born, Trinidadian-national artist. Her layered and vibrant artwork explores nature as teacher of the human spirit. Large-scale canvases of colour-drenched rainforest offer witness to her inner world. Using shifting layers of shadow and light, acrylic washes and pastel markings that build over time, Gaby tells a quiet ancestral story of resilience. In fluid rivers of colour that spill over into the fringes of her painted world, she holds temporary influence of shape and form while surrendering to its inevitable enmeshment. One layer bleeds into the next; one saturated colour is lifted by its counterpart of light.

Gaby's artwork is technicolor life pulsing at the heart of our human experience.

We must forge the depths of our relationship to nature as access to the mystery and intoxication of it all: joy and grief as companions, worth and belonging through surrender, a deep knowing that beauty is held by the hands of vulnerability. Beneath it all, the wisdom of attention as an act of reclamation of the only life we have to live.
